To help us bring our vision for Portainer to life, we’re searching for expressions of interest from skilled and ambitious Technical Product Specialists who will work directly with our clients, and ensure Portainer is delivering our promise for simplified container management.

What does a Technical Product Specialist do?

A powerful mix of customer success and product knowledge, our Product Specialists are the leading experts in the product for both customers and staff. Your key task will be to take the deep technical expertise you already possess and then learn the Portainer solution inside and out, and become one of the go to people that customers or staff go to for help.

Customer Success (CS) is the heart of Portainer’s sustained long-term success. As a Technical Product Specialist you will act as a trusted adviser, helping our customers’ effectively leverage our product to drive maximum impact for their business.

There are two key aspects to this role and it will be up to you to take it in the direction that gets you most excited:

  • Education + Enablement – Educating users on product features to deepen their engagement, unblocking them by assisting with support requests, and showcasing the value of features through creating shareable educational resources / guides. You’ll also use your expertise to guide and mentor other staff at Portainer.
  • Feedback loop – Empathizing with individual users to capture feedback and funnel the feedback to the product and marketing teams.

Using your deep technical knowledge, you will (depending on your skills/experience):

  • Be responsive to the needs of our customers to ultimately drive adoption and retention of our product across their organization by running onboarding sessions, or responding to requests for help.
  • Collect insights from users/customers to improve our product and drive self-serve resources.
  • Peer-to-peer collaboration and mentoring – each person on the team brings a different perspective and set of skills, you will contribute to helping other staff members to be successful through guidance and feedback.

Requirements

Must haves:

  • Experience working with microservices and container technologies (Kubernetes is the priority, but Docker knowledge/ experience is also a benefit)
  • A solid understanding of software configuration management and DevOps processes
  • Environment provisioning and management (Linux and Windows) and scripting language experience (Shell, Perl, etc.).
  • Experience supporting technical customers (internal or external), ideally with support ticket systems
  • An understanding of cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
  • Possess an “everything has a solution” mentality and fearless “go-getter” attitude.
  • Ability to wear many hats and juggle many balls simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage your day-to-day workload independently.
  • Natural ability to play nice with others – great teamwork, facilitation, communication (in English), interpersonal skills, and the ability to work across functional lines.

Should haves:

  • Experience with Portainer is a huge plus, but full training will be provided
  • BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field (not essential).
