Near is looking for a Software Engineer who can be part of its backend Engineering team & contribute to its products & platform. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of systems as part of Near Platform in coordination with various business teams.
We are looking for a driven and ambitious engineer who can play a pivotal role in the next phase of our journey. You will need to collaborate with other API developers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists and UI Engineers and work as a part of a high-performance team and solve problems. Experience as a technical lead across the full software development lifecycle is highly desirable. The perfect candidate for this role will be skilled with Java, Python, or Scala.
A Day in the Life:
- Build, improve, and maintain back-end systems to support multiple business areas
- Work with cross functional team like product management, data engineers, QA and others to constantly improve our products and adapt to new customer needs
- Work with other engineers to constantly improve the capabilities, reliability, and cost of our systems
What you bring to the role:
- 5+ years professional software engineering experience
- Expert in building reliable, performant distributed systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python required
- Proficiency in C++, and object-oriented design skills
- Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance is preferred
- AWS Cloud Experience using EC2, Lambda, ECS, RDS and DocumentDB
- Experience building event driven architectures at high scale using Kafka
- Proficient with shell scripting, basic Unix command-line tools, git, Docker
- Familiar with distributed data processing platforms such as Apache Spark
- Strong CS fundamentals
- Ability to build good rapport and relationships across teams
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and mathematical skills, and sound judgment
- Familiarity with mobile location data and ad tech industry
- Experience breaking down complex problems into manageable steps to solve
- Experience in CI/CD environment is plus.
- Familiarity with GIS concepts and tools a plus
